Prabal Gurung's designs have always inspired me, not only as a fashion illustrator, but as a fashion enthusiast. Over the last week, I have been sketching this PB resort look which was VERY challenging to say the least. Trying to capture every ruffle, the cloth's light-as-air texture, and the model's features were no easy feat. It's safe to say that this is a mixed media piece because I used Prismacolor Col-Erase pencil in Terra Cotta to sketch out the initial look.

Ahh! It's coming along so great!

I followed the initial sketch with a .05 Micron pen and colored in the texture of the chiffon with markers. I used AD Markers in Cool Gray #2 and Super Black, which I absolutely love! The richness of the pigment really captured the essence of Prabal's design. I also experimented with a different (and awesome) new paper. While my love for Canson paper is going nowhere, I must say that Borden & Riley's #234 Paris Paper for Pens is soooo smooth and buttery. It's perfect because there's no bleed-through, which means I can use all the sheets in the pad which is a major plus.

Overall, I am really happy that this illustration came out the way it did. At first I was a bit angsty about the Col-Erase pencil still showing but in the end, I like that I can see each layer. It shows the growth of the illustration-flaws and all.
